Indefinite prison sentences have been given to protect the public from a Leamington armed robber and his accomplices.
At Coventry Crown Court on Friday Christopher Carver, 30, of no fixed address but formerly of Leamington, had pleaded guilty to robbing staff at the Coral bookmakers in The Green, Bilton, near Rugby.

And Carver, along with 22-year-old Luke Smith of Vicarage Hill, Cliffton-on-Dunsmore and Carl Adams, 25, of Skiddaw, Brownsover, Rugby, also admitted possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear during the violent New Year's Eve raid.

Judge James Ross said Carver will serve a minimum of four years and three months before being considered for parole.

Smith will serve at least three years and nine months and Adams will be imprisoned for a minimum of four years and 21 days.

During the raid one of the gang punched a male staff member in the face and the robbers escaped with £515.

But they were arrested within 24 hours of committing the crime.
