Police arrested a 21-year-old Warwick man on suspicion of assault causing grevious bodily harm following an incident in a car park on Charles Street near the Lord Nelson Pub on Saturday night (July 4).

Officers were called to a disturbance at about 10.45pm.

During the incident a man in his 20s had sustained an injury to his hand and an abrasion to his head, believed to have been caused by a bottle.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life-changing.

The suspect has been bailed until August 2 while enquiries are ongoing.

Warwickshire Police are asking anyone witnessed the incident to call them on 101 quoting incident number 518 of 4 July 2020.

Pubs re-opened across the UK on Saturday (July 4).
