Windscreen smashed to free woman from crashed car near Harborough Magna - she is then arrested on suspicion of drink driving

Emergency services had to smash the windscreen of a crashed car to get to the driver - who was then arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

On Wednesday, December 18 at 2.55pm Warwickshire Police, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to a car in a ditchon the B4112 near Harborough Magna.

The car was leaking fuel and smoke was pouring from it - so emergency services had to smash the windscreen to get to the woman inside.

She was checked over by ambulance staff - but officers then arrested her on suspicion of drink driving.

The arrest comes as Warwickshire Police undertake a clampdown on drink driving over Christmas.
